Cataracts

This condition is the clouding of the crystalline lens inside the eye. This is usually an age-related vision problem with surgery being the general treatment. A main symptom of cataracts is blurred vision that makes it seem as if you're looking through a piece of cloudy glass. As the symptoms worsen, you will most likely have trouble with nighttime driving. Please contact our office if you begin to experience these symptoms.

Transitions lenses are photochromic lenses that are clear until dangerous ultraviolet radiation (UV) is present. Once outdoors, the brighter the sun, the darker Transitions lenses become. They turn as dark as sunglasses by automatically reacting to the intensity of UV radiation. They turn as dark as sunglasses by automatically reacting to the intensity of UV radiation and help to protect the retina.

Receive effective treatment for glaucoma from our eye health professionals. Glaucoma is a group of eye disorders that progressively lead to optic nerve damage, nerve tissue loss, and vision loss. Advanced glaucoma may eventually even lead to blindness if left untreated. Symptoms or signs of glaucoma usually cause no pain and produce no symptoms. It often progresses rapidly with little or no detection. We recommend having an annual eye exam to test for eye pressure.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of severe vision loss in adults over the age of 50. Women also develop AMD at an earlier age than men. This eye disease occurs when there are changes to the macula, a small portion of the retina that is found on the inside back layer of the eye. AMD is a loss of central vision that can occur in "dry" or atrophic and "wet" or exudative form. The dry form of this disease has no known treatment. The less common wet form may respond to laser procedures if it is diagnosed and treated early.

The QuantifEye device is used to measure Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD) to assess health risks for AMD (Age Related Macular Degeneration). This instrument is the most reliable and accurate device on the market for measuring this biomarker. For more information click www.eyepromise.com
